EM + GPR Locating · For electrical & low-voltage contractors

EM + GPR utility locating for electricians.

Running a new feed to a garage, a panel to a suite, or low-voltage across a property means trenching — and the line you're most qualified to respect is exactly the one you can't see from the surface. Tracing existing conductors, clearing the route, and knowing the depth before the trencher runs is the difference between a clean install and an outage you caused.

We trace energised and de-energised conductors with EM (passive power sweep plus active clamp on live cables), image the rest with GPR, and mark a clear route and depth — so your trench goes where it's safe and your new run is documented for whoever digs next.

The right services for electricians

Electricians ask

Can you trace a live cable without shutting it down?

Yes — the inductive signal clamp couples a locating frequency onto an energised cable without any electrical contact and without interrupting service. It's the standard professional method for tracing live power, and far more reliable in a busy corridor than trying to follow the cable passively. We use the passive power sweep first to flag what's energised, then clamp-trace the specific feeds you need routed.

Do you find buried low-voltage and control wiring?

Conductive low-voltage and control lines can be traced actively where we can apply or clamp a signal, and flagged passively where they re-radiate — but small, shielded, or de-energised runs are harder, and plastic-conduit runs need GPR. We're candid about which lines are easy, which are hard, and where GPR carries the locate, so you trench on a real picture rather than an optimistic one.

Can you make my new underground run locatable later?

Yes — for direct-bury or plastic-conduit runs, installing tracer wire alongside (with access at both ends) means the run can be actively located for its whole life. We'll advise on the detailing and verify it with a trace before backfill. It's a small step at install that saves every future contractor — including you — from guessing.
