EM + GPR Locating · For landscape & hardscape crews
EM + GPR utility locating for landscapers & hardscapers.
Planting trees, setting hardscape footings, grading, installing irrigation — landscaping is constant shallow digging across exactly the zone where private services run: irrigation mains, low-voltage lighting, the gas line to the fire feature, the power to the gate. Most of it is on the homeowner's side of the meter, so no public locate covers it, and a struck line turns a planting day into a repair day.

We clear the work area before your crew breaks ground: EM tracing of the conductive lines, GPR for the plastic irrigation and unknowns, and marked depths so augers, trenchers, and footings go in safe — and we'll tracer-wire the new irrigation main so the next dig is easy.
What landscapers & hardscapers hit
- Irrigation mains and low-voltage lighting on every property
- Gas to fire features, heaters, and outdoor kitchens
- Private power to gates, sheds, and landscape lighting
- Plastic irrigation lines invisible to EM-only locators
- Shallow strikes from augers, trenchers, and footing digs
How we fit your workflow
- Clear the work zone — EM for metal, GPR for plastic irrigation
- Mark depths for augers, trenchers, and footing excavations
- Sonde-trace existing non-metallic irrigation and drains
- Tracer-wire new irrigation mains for future locatability

It's just shallow digging — do I really need a locate?
Shallow is exactly where landscape services live: irrigation, low-voltage lighting, and gas to fire features are often buried only a spade's depth down, right where augers and footings go. And because they're private (past the meter), no public locate marks them. A struck gas line is dangerous regardless of depth, and a struck irrigation or lighting run is a repair the client will expect you to wear. A quick clearance is cheap insurance.
Can you find plastic irrigation lines?
Yes — by GPR imaging and by sonde-tracing existing non-metallic mains, since plastic carries no EM signal. We map the irrigation so your crew digs around it, and for new mains we install tracer wire so the system stays locatable for every future planting or repair. On larger properties, aerial irrigation mapping can also survey the whole system at once.
Can you come back as we phase the project?
Yes — phased landscape projects suit a standing arrangement: we clear each work zone as you reach it rather than the whole property at once, keeping marks fresh where the crew is actually digging. For repeat landscaping and hardscape contractors, that per-phase dispatch becomes a routine part of the job rhythm across BC.
