Correlator Leak Detection

BC's experts in acoustic correlation technology. Our correlators analyze sound wave travel times to pinpoint underground leaks with meter-level precision - essential for municipalities and large facilities.

How Acoustic Correlation Works

Correlator technology uses two or more acoustic sensors placed at access points on either side of a suspected leak. The sensors simultaneously record leak noise traveling through the pipe. Advanced algorithms then analyze the time difference between when the sound reaches each sensor.

By knowing the pipe material, diameter, and distance between sensors, we calculate the exact location of the leak with remarkable precision. This technology is particularly effective for locating leaks on long runs of underground pipe where traditional methods would be impractical.

Technology Capabilities

  • Pinpoints leak locations to within 1 meter accuracy
  • Works on all pipe materials including PVC, ductile iron, and steel
  • Effective on pipes up to 2,000 meters in length
  • Non-invasive - no excavation required for detection
  • Digital noise filtering eliminates false positives
  • GPS-integrated reporting for precise mapping
